Education

A new wave of networks are disrupting systems and marketplaces by embracing the DIY, skill-sharing, and the maker-mentality. These groups encourage participants to seek something more than an end goal in their work by emphasizing passion, change-making, and access to information that results in unique solutions to the world's problems. These democratized networks allow people and companies to serve themselves and others faster through new communities and user experiences. How might we embolden our vision to align with similar methods of doing work for the greater good? What models can we imitate to create transparent and reliable relationships that will help us lay the ground work to establish a solid network?

lolzculturalequity serves as a multi-site hub that seeks to empower Bay Area artists, arts administrators, and cultural producers. This hub serves as a destination for the creatives to anonymously share experiences regarding cultural equity-related challenges within the Bay Area arts community. This media platform allows the EAP Cultural Equity Research team the opportunity to serve our community as well as connect artists to organizational resources and individuals ready and willing to empower others. In addition to the online web format, the team has created a dedicated warmline Google voice number. The number enables our community to leave a message regarding personal incidents and experiences of cultural (in)equity, thus providing an outlet. If requested by the caller, one of the lolzculturalequity founders will connect the caller via email or by phone within 48 hours.
